7 Keys for Brain Repair

3.Control

Custom-tailored program vs. generic broad program. Both will work. albeit at different speeds and with different limits on recovery potential.

As your loved one gets better, his or her personality will come through in a purer form, less impeded by the disabilities that used to plague his or her brain. His or her personality will influence with more power the direction of the repair, the priorities it will set for the timing of the repair.

For example, instead of repairing speech as most people would do at certain stage of brain repair, it could move on to focus on memory, digestion or anxiety.

We can put together for you ahead of time a group of worksheets to last you 6 months based on our experience with clients in similar circumstances as the ones you will have described in the application process.

These 6-month packages of worksheeets will be more generic to ensure enough power and efficiency even when your loved one's brain decides to take a surprising new direction in its repair schedule.

As you or your loved one changes, as the brain changes, besides flexibility, the most effective program also requires expertise, or access to an expert to make the program adapt to the person.

Standard Package vs. Custom Plan

Where our expertise can be useful, however, is in the customization of the process every step of the way for you and your loved one.

ControlInstead of predicting what changes your loved one will go through and at what time, we can wait until he or she actually displays the changes and make adjustments to the program correspondingly.

We can optimize the process every two weeks in one-on-one appointments to follow your loved one's progress and changes if you would like us to and, of course, you will get better and faster results at this level of involvement. More about the price options in the cost page.

Assessments, a way to draw a map of your loved one's brain functions

Every package requires that you fill out an initial extensive questionnaire. To add to both the quality and quantity of data we can design your packages from we recommend these additional methods of gathering baseline data.

1. Face to Face Assessment

You bring you and your loved to us for a 2-hour (usually) visit during which Claudie will run some tests to determine both where the dysfunctions are and where the brain works well enough to respond to direct stimulation as we begin Multi-Sensory Therapy.

All the assessments fulfill this same role. Having Claudie and your loved one in the same room helps us gather those last bits of data that you did not think about telling us about, that you did not know we would need to know about or that we did not think to ask you about in the initial generic questionnaire.

2. Home Video Assessment

When meeting face to face is not an option there is the alternative to send us a series of short videos of your loved on in his/her natural environment performing a series of tasks we list for you. In some cases we may also send you equipment in the form of puzzles or toys to use in the videos. Claudie in turn evaluates the videos.

In some cases we complement the face to face assessment with some home videos. Seeing your loved one behave in his natural environment during routine family events such as dinner or playing in the backyard can be extremely informative.

3. On-going Home Video Feedback

Occasionally as the program progresses, you will want to speak with Claudie directly to discuss concerns or progress. If the Multi-Sensory Therapy plan you select does not already include these types of appointments, you may request them. Your home work for these appointments will be to prepare one ore more short videos for Claudie to view.

Again, the more you involve us directly in the brain repair program, the faster and the better it will go.

One size fits all. Not!

We have over a thousand different games. Most of them were created once for one person and never used again in exactly the same way. Each exercise is tailored to the person and in fact, would be either futile or even detrimental if done out of context, without supervision by the Centre.

We have had several situations where there were twins with the same diagnosis. With the custom Multi-Sensory Therapy, their programs diverged after only a few weeks.
